What are Eco-Labels?

A very important (and perhaps necessary) aspect of the Green Industry are Eco-Labels. Essentially, Eco-Labels are the standards and benchmarks that keep us (and dodgy companies) from misleading consumers about our environmental practices, or the environmental benefits of our products or services. Tap WaterBad water habits account for 20% of your water bill. Practice good water saving habits. Turn off the tap when you’re brushing your teeth. Better yet, use a tumbler or cup to gargle. Oh and turn off the shower when you’re soaping!

Why I’ll be keeping my lights on this Earth Hour

earth-hourWell, it’s that time of the year again and Earth Hour is scheduled for March 27th 2010 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm but I won’t be taking part. Why? I think this revolves largely around the fact that I do not need to feel one with the rest of the world in my efforts to spread the message of environmental sustainability. More importantly is the fact that most business and individuals that take part in Earth Hour do nothing else for the rest of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I am not asking everyone to turn off their lights for an hour a day everyday for the rest of the year. Lights were invented to allow us to see at night and it has increased the productivity of human kind. Instead I would like to implore participants to DO MORE beyond that one hour.
