I believe this falls into the “it makes so much sense that we should feel stupid about not thinking about this earlier” section. We should keep this in mind for the day we decide that we want to get recycling programs to actually work in Singapore!
We tend to take paper for granted. We use it for all sorts of things like printing out emails and school readings (I don’t, but I think everyone knows someone that “can’t read from a screen”), wrapping up food like Chicken Rice, cleaning, for shopping bags, and a whole host of other things!
Here is a list of wasteful things that you can easily replace in your home from Planet Green:

Do you still receive paper statements from the banks? Save paper by opting for electronic statements instead!
If your bank doesn’t have an opt out of receiving paper statements option there seems to be a method to get them to stop sending you paper statements altogether. We haven’t tested this method out yet but urban legend has it that if you provide the bank with a NON-EXISTENT address, they will stop sending you paper statements after 3 months of it being returned to them due to non-delivery.
Do note we do not in anyway condone the method mentioned above, we are just sharing what the grapevines tell us!
Brand new year back at work!
Does your company encourage double-sided printing? What about a reusable paper bin? If not start by encouraging your co-workers to utilize double-sided printing as much as possible or set up a reusable paper bin next to your office printer for papers that can be reused for printing or as scrap paper for other purposes.
Businesses typically spend 4.5% of their turnover on waste disposal and a majority of it is paper waste. The equation is simple, less waste = more turnover.
